Libs promise better internet speed

The Liberals have come out with some interesting policy statements over the years but one of their latest statements is aimed at anyone having internet speed test issues in rural areas of Canada.

Liberal party leader Michael Ignatieff has promised that a Liberal government would deliver high-speed Internet access to every community across the country within three years if they were elected to office in the next election.

He said the Liberals would find the money to pay for the update in the internet structure  by taking about $500 million from a wireless spectrum auction expected to bring in about 4 billion dollars next year.

“Too many rural communities can’t get access to essential services, because we don’t have the digital infrastructure to deliver them,” said Ignatieff. “Fibre optics, broadband, cellular towers, these are the railroad ties of our century. Digital infrastructure is how we hold our country together, and connect our people to the world.
